COLORS…

Perhaps “COLORS” is not the most creative name for a tour, but it is a FALL tour you know.  We left our home base in Greenville yesterday and started east and north.  We are planning to be in the Smoky mountains in late October and we  should be posting pics of some beautiful fall foliage.  And here I am, yet again, asking for you to take time from your own concerns to pray for KNIGHTsong Ministries.  We begin in Arkansas tomorrow, and then follow with multiple dates in Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina and finally Tennessee.  Please pray as well for those who will attend these events.  Two different Pastors have communicated with me already about hurting folks in their churches.  Wow, what a responsibility.  A responsibility that I cannot face without the prayers of God’s people.  Your prayers.

Our plans are to return home around Thanksgiving and then present our Christmas concerts to close out the year.  We launched the Christmas concert idea to hopefully fill the calendar on the December Sundays where our typical concert material doesn’t quite fit.  I called it A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION OF HOPE.  On our first year (two years ago) we did a total of one.  Last year we did two.  This year we have seven concerts and one additional event already scheduled.  Thank you Lord!  In addition to sharing the message of hope at Christmas, anything like this that we can do helps bolster the KSM bank balance… and that bank balance is what keeps us on the road throughout the year telling Matt’s story.  Watch for more information about these upcoming concerts.  We have some fun things coming, and who knows?  Some of you might just want to attend.

Now, back to the prayer thing… please pray for me as well.  As I look down the road of my life, it is obvious that there are fewer miles ahead than there are behind.  None of us know when our Journey will be over, and I just want to finish well.  I don’t know about you, but one day I sure would like to hear “well done”.   I was reminded of this yet again just before we left.

Last Tuesday we had the joy to attend Grandparents Day with our ten year old granddaughter, Makenna.  At ten, she’s in that stage between little girl and teenager.  I love watching her grow up.  Walking into the school she reminded me that I had a special treat coming.

“I wrote you a poem Poppi.  You get to read it!”.

Works for me.  That was enough to make me smile.  It’s just that I never expected to cry.  Their class was doing a special assignment in writing class using words that are similar. And so the poem began.

You are my dog,  I am your cat.  You are my piano, I am your hands.

“Cute” I thought, but it was the next line that nearly made my knees buckle right there in front of everyone.

You are my Bible, I am your reader.

You catch that?  What a responsibility we have as believers.  A responsibility to live out Christ in front of hose who know us best, our family.  And as well, to a hurting, needy, lost world.  I just want to finish well.  I want that “well done”.  And God, may I never disappoint that little girl.

Now I feel quite confident that this ten year old has no clue the power of what she wrote.  She has likely never heard the challenge of “You are the only Bible some will ever read”.  Then again, who really knows what goes on in the heart of a child somewhere on her own Journey between childhood and the teen years.  I do believe she knows Jesus.  I was there when it happened.  You may remember that from a chapter in ON THE VIRGE…

Know we pray for you as well.  Sometimes I consider the list of recipients of this blog notification and find myself grateful for you and the part you have played in our lives.  So when you have a moment, add us to your p
rayer list again, and ask God to again move in powerful ways in the hearts of people as THE GREATER JOURNEY continues.
